Malawi

Why Malawi is special

Known for Lake Malawi, the 4th largest in Africa, Malawi offers a 5 * safari experience, where you can enjoy the Big 5, lion, elephant, rhino, leopard and buffalo, plus many other animals and birds.

Lake Malawi has a wide variety of accommodation options, from small, simple but cozy lodges located on small beaches, to the most luxurious and boutique-style lodges, which offer a very careful service, in the best locations on the lake. In all cases the activities that can be done are innumerable, snorkeling to see the cichlids, endemic fish of this lake, kayaking, stargazing, visits to local fishing villages or giving you a massage at the accommodation.

Liwonde National Park has a lot of fauna, such as lions, elephants, with the largest relocation ever seen in Africa, black rhinoceros, cheetahs, antelopes, many hippos and crocodiles, hundreds of species of birds  and safaris both in 4x4 and in small boats that will make this park an unmissable event.

Majete Wildlife Reserve, has a surprising conservation history, being in 2010 a place totally devastated by the population and with no future. Thanks to the commitment of African Parks, a project was started that today makes it possible to see the Big 5 in the park, as well as a number of fauna that will delight those most in love with wildlife, also offering walking safaris .

In the rest of your safari in Malawi, we can offer you visits  to schools, to support projects for local communities or  go for a hike in the Zomba Plateau Forest.

When to travel to
Malawi

Malawi can be visited at any time of the year, but if you want to visit the national parks, these are the seasons:

November to March. Rainy season and it's hot. In January and February the grass can be higher, making it more difficult to see wildlife. Liwonde National Park becomes a fascinating orchard.

April to August is the coldest season and also the driest, making it necessary to bring warm clothes for the nights in July and August.

September and October are the warmest months, there is no rain and they are 2 excellent months to go on safaris in their national parks.
